Flights at Tribhuvan International Airport affected due to bad weather, 5 flights diverted

Flight operations at Tribhuvan International Airport were affected on Thursday due to bad weather and poor visibility. According to airport officials, three international and one domestic flight were diverted to other destinations after visibility dropped below 2,000 meters.

An Air India flight from New Delhi has been diverted to Lucknow, while a Nepal Airlines wide-body aircraft coming from Doha, Qatar to Kathmandu has been diverted to New Delhi.

Meanwhile, a Sichuan Airlines flight coming from Chengdu, China has also returned to China after encountering technical problems, an airport official said. Similarly, an IndiGo flight coming from Delhi has also been diverted to India.

Domestically, a Shree Airlines flight coming from Surkhet to Kathmandu has been diverted to Bhairahawa. According to the official, the main reason for the diversion of the flight was the weather disruption and low visibility on the air route. Around 300 flights (domestic and international) operate daily at Tribhuvan International Airport. Around 30,000 passengers travel from here. The airport has stated that regular flight operations will resume once the weather improves.
