The UML has demanded that the political problem be resolved by re-establishing the House of Representatives as the government led by Prime Minister Sushila Karki is unable to hold elections.
UML's Mahesh Bartaula made this point in the discussion between the political parties, Gen-G and the government convened by Prime Minister Karki in Baluwatar on Wednesday.
Leader Bartaula had said that the government that received the election mandate was not preparing to hold the election. He had said that the parliament should be restored to resolve the current political crisis. 'The government came with the election mandate, but it did not seem to be engaged in basic preparations. The government did not seem to have done security and other work for the election,' Bartaula had said, 'There is a political vacuum now. The country seems to have entered another crisis. Since the constitution has been injured and the country is going undemocratically, all political issues can be resolved through the restoration of the parliament. Let's end corruption, amend the constitution, and maintain good governance through the parliament.'
Bartaula informed that he had raised the issue that now the parliament can be restored and a new mandate can be sought. "We argued that the political issue could be resolved only by restoring the parliament because we believe this government cannot hold elections," said Bartoula.
Bartoula said that the House of Representatives should be restored and moved forward because it was dissolved unconstitutionally and apolitically.
