Congress's establishment side is positive on the issue of bringing the general convention schedule.

The establishment wing of the Nepali Congress, which has been adamant that the schedule should not be brought in such a way that the general convention should be held in November, has shown some flexibility. The two general secretaries of the Nepali Congress, Gagan Thapa and Bishwaprakash Sharma, have been saying that they will not back down from their stance that a regular or special general convention should be held before the elections.

The establishment party's meeting held at Dhobighat in Lalitpur on Wednesday has expressed the view that the schedule of the active membership and the convention of the lower-level committees should be finalized by Mangsir and the central convention should be held after the elections.

Congress leaders Krishna Prasad Sitaula and Bimalendra Nidhi had said that it would be better to finalize the active membership by Mangsir before the elections and schedule the convention after the elections. The establishment party is also consulting with moderate leader Shekhar Koirala about the schedule. Koirala has been suggesting a way to bring the regular general convention schedule in Mangsir and postpone it for some time if the work is not done.

Central member Ramhari Khatiwada, who participated in the meeting, said that discussions are underway to find a middle-of-the-road solution for party unity. 'When the country is in a crisis, the Congress should not go with divided votes. It should go with unity.' "I am ready for that," Khatiwada said, quoting Khadka. "Dialogue is currently underway with all parties on how to find a solution."

The postponed meeting of the Nepali Congress is starting from Thursday.
