The issues of elections and good governance were discussed in a discussion between political parties and representatives of Gen-G, convened by Prime Minister Sushila Karki.
The discussion between the government, political parties and the Gen-G representatives held at the Prime Minister's residence in Baluwatar on Wednesday evening discussed how to move forward in the coming days. The discussion focused on how to hold the elections announced for Falgun 21 and how to address the demands raised by Gen-G.
The Gen-G representative told Prime Minister Karki and the representatives of the political parties that good governance should be brought in along with the elections and that the work of ending corruption should also be taken forward.
According to Prime Minister Karki's secretariat, the Gen-G representative had said, 'Elections are needed, they should be held, but not just elections. The main demand of our movement is good governance. Action against corruption is the government should move forward on both these agendas.'
The talks held in Baluwatar were attended by Raksha Bam, James Karki, Diwakar Dangal, Purushottam Yadav, Miraj Dhungana, Amit Khanal, Rijan Rana Magar, Saman Gharti, Monica, Uparjun Chamling, Khem Saund, Bhoj Bikram Thapa (martyr family representative), Abhishek Shrestha (injured representative), Vivek Dhakal, and Sagar Dhakal from Gen-G.
Prime Minister Karki, however, said that dialogue should continue between all parties.
