Police have arrested former CPN-UML MP Devi Prakash Bhattachan.

A team of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CIB) arrested him from Lalitpur. Bhattachan is also the chairman of the Prabhu Group. A CIB officer said that he was taken into custody to investigate the complaint filed by Prabhu Management Chairman Kusum Lama regarding a fraud of Rs 980 million.

The complaint against Bhattachan was initially refused to be registered by the District Police Complex, Kathmandu. Later, the victim reached the District Public Prosecutor's Office.

On 11 Asho 2081, the public prosecutor sent the complaint to the police asking them to proceed with the investigation. However, the process was stuck there. Now, the CIB has taken up the investigation of the same old incident, the officer said.
