Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal has commented that he has been the first target of misinformation and disinformation spread on social media. In an interview with Kantipur Television's Fireside program, Home Minister Aryal said that misleading information has been spread about him.

‘We do not have a mechanism to counter misinformation and disinformation. Initially, we did not prioritize it. But the government and I are being attacked from there,’ Aryal said. ‘Many misleading and untrue information is being shared and criticized on social media.’

He said that he was worried about how to increase the morale of the police administration by targeting the Home Minister in this way. He said that after taking over as Home Minister, he had been working in a way that would lead the police administration to a system and let it do its job, but it hurts when it is criticized through misleading information.

Even though Prime Minister Sushila Karki was chosen as the Home Minister, he said that there is an evil attempt to establish a different narrative on social media.

‘Did some public media outlets exaggerate? The mainstream media is also doing that, so now journalism has reached a point where it needs to be revived,’ he said, ‘Is there a situation in this profession that needs to be reformed after the Genji Rebellion? ’

He says that the public media should be critical but should not spread misleading information targeting anyone.

‘The post of editor is not a small post, is it? Should the editor who creates commentary to inform the society also be the news?’ He said, ‘It is not good for the media to have any news. Because when a media outlet assassinates someone’s character, its credibility is lost.’
