Five people have lost their lives in four consecutive motorcycle accidents in Chitwan since Sunday night, with Tanka Prasad Thapa passing away in the latest accident.
One person has died in a motorcycle accident that occurred in Gondrang, Bharatpur Metropolitan City-12, on Thursday morning.
This is the fourth motorcycle accident and fifth death in Chitwan since Sunday night. According to the details provided by the Chitwan District Police Office, the young man sitting in the back died when the motorcycle crashed into the highway divider in Gondrang at 4:15 am this morning. DSP Rabindra Khanal, spokesperson of the District Police Office, has identified the deceased as Tanka Prasad Thapa, 44, of Tanahun Devghat Rural Municipality-2 and a resident of Gaindakot Municipality-1, Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta East). The motorcycle (Ga 10 Pa 6122) driven by Keshav Gharti Magar, 26, of Gaindakot-1, crashed into the divider. The motorcycle was coming from Tandi towards Bharatpur. Driver Keshav's condition is moderate. He is being treated at the Chitwan Medical College Teaching Hospital in Bharatpur. Tanka Prasad Thapa, who was sitting in the back, who was seriously injured after the motorcycle hit, also died at the same hospital at 4:45 am, DSP Khanal said.
In Chitwan, four people have died, including one when a motorcycle hit a broken gas bullet parked on the road, one when a motorcycle overturned and two when a scooter overturned. All these accidents since Sunday have occurred after 10 pm.
