Maoist Deputy General Secretary Barshaman Pun has said that political parties should support the government to make the House of Representatives elections scheduled for Falgun 21 a success.
At a tea party organized in Bhaktapur on Tuesday, Pun said that the Maoists would support the government to make the election successful. He also urged parties including the Congress and UML to prepare for the election.
Pun said that there is no alternative to making the House of Representatives election successful in order to move the country forward constitutionally. ‘There is no alternative to holding the election on the announced date to bring the constitution on the right track,’ he said, ‘We are committed to the election and urge other parties to also stand in favor of the election.’
Pun also said that he had discussed with Prime Minister Sushila Karki the need for the government to take the initiative to create an environment for the election. Pun also said that a few days ago, he and leader Narayan Kaji Shrestha had made it clear that the Maoists were in favor of the election in a meeting with Prime Minister Sushila Karki. ‘The Prime Minister had called us. Comrade Narayan Kaji and I had gone. We said - we are in favor of the election.’ We will create an environment for elections, but we had said that we should also create an environment for elections for others,' he said, 'Even today, the Prime Minister has called seven parties to the national parties. We will go. We say this.'
Pun said that the Gen-G movement of the 23rd was correct and that the destruction on the 24th was not caused by Gen-G, but by infiltration. He also demanded action against those involved in both the crimes of the 23rd and 24th.
Pun said that the two-thirds government led by KP Oli, formed by the two major parties of the dissolved House of Representatives, the Congress and the UML, focused on corruption and the interests of middlemen, and that the people's frustration and anger exploded through the Gen-G movement. He said that the people came to the streets under the leadership of the new generation against Oli's arbitrariness, despotism and corrupt character. He mentioned that despite repeated requests from the main opposition party to improve their working style and understand the feelings of the people, the situation has exploded when the government did not listen.
Pun claimed that efforts are being made to establish the narrative that the Maoists and other parties are the same and that the Maoists and others are different in the matter of good governance.
Pun said that all the corruption and irregularities cases that have been in the news in the past should be investigated and expressed his party's commitment to help in that. Pun said that they have not bowed down to party leaders, workers, supporters and voters while sitting in the government.
