A case of abetment to suicide has been filed against five people in the Kathmandu District Court in connection with the death of ticket collector Aanchal Nath. The case was filed based on an investigation conducted by the District Police Range, Kathmandu.

In the case filed in the court, 26-year-old Sanju Bik, Urmila Bik alias Anu, Saraswati Bhandari alias Saru, 22-year-old Rajesh Budha and Laxmi Budha have been made defendants . Of them, only Sanju Bik has been arrested, while the rest have been made absconding defendants .

Aanchal, who appeared in some music videos, was also active in modeling . She came to Kathmandu from her village to study Japanese two years ago and had been living in a dormitory in Bhaktapur .

Aanchal, who met Sanju through TikTok, has been in a dispute with Saraswati Bhandari for some time, according to the complaint filed by her nephew Prakash Nath Yogi.

‘Sanju Bik’s wife Urmila also encouraged the dispute,’ the complaint states, ‘The same issue was discussed in Sanju’s garage at 4 pm on Asoj 9.’ During that time, they had a fight, verbally abusing each other and even threatened to kill each other.'

According to the police, Aanchal then poured petrol on herself and set herself on fire. After being seriously injured, Sanju took her to Kathmandu Medical College in Sinamangal for treatment. Doctors declared her dead during treatment.

Sanju, in his statement to the police, claimed that he had not threatened her. 'When I saw the fire burning, I tried to put it out with my jacket. When that didn't work, I poured water on her and covered her with a blanket and took her to the hospital in a taxi,' he said.

According to Section 185 of the Criminal Code, 2074, 'It is not permissible to incite anyone to commit suicide or create such a situation.' There is a provision for imprisonment for up to five years and a fine of up to Rs 50,000 for those who commit such an act.
