Police have arrested 27-year-old Vivek Bishwakarma of Khandbari-8, Sankhuwasabha, who was convicted in a rape case and is serving his sentence at Nakkhu Prison in Lalitpur.

It was revealed that Bishwakarma, who escaped from prison during the Jana-Ji movement that took place across the country on Bhadra 23-24, has been living in hiding since then. Based on confidential information, a special team deployed from the District Police Office, Sankhuwasabha, arrested him on Sunday, informed DSP Kumar Prasad Mainali of the District Police Office.

According to him, Bishwakarma was taken into custody about one and a half kilometers away from the District Police Office. The police have taken him into custody and are conducting further investigation.

DSP Mainali said that the absconding accused has been arrested and legal action has been taken and he will be sent back to Nakkhu Prison in coordination with the prison administration. Bishwakarma was found guilty by the court and was serving his prison sentence.
