President Ram Chandra Poudel has instructed the heads of the government and security agencies to instill confidence among political parties and the general public that free, fair and impartial elections will be held in a fear-free environment.

President Poudel gave such instructions to the heads of all four security agencies during a discussion held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Sheetal Niwas on Saturday with the participation of interim government Prime Minister Sushila Karki and ministers.

He directed the security agencies to present themselves 'boldly' to maintain peace and security and conduct the election in a fear-free environment, informed the President's Press Advisor Kiran Pokharel.

President Poudel also urged the immediate return of weapons and escaped prisoners looted on Bhadra 24. Interim government Prime Minister Karki said that the government will leave no stone unturned to conduct the election in a free, fair and fear-free environment. She informed that the security agencies will be fully prepared and all necessary resources will be provided to them.

The heads of the security agencies assured President Poudel that the security agencies are capable of maintaining peace and security and conducting the election in a fear-free environment. They reminded that they have conducted the election peacefully even in more difficult circumstances in the past, and said that the security agencies are fully prepared this time as well.

The discussion was attended by Prime Minister Karki of the interim government, all ministers except the Finance Minister, as well as Army Chief Ashok Sigdel, Inspector General of Police Chandrakuber Khapung, Inspector General of Armed Police Force Nepal Raju Aryal, and Chief of the National Investigation Department Tekendra Karki.
