Bhola Kumar Bhatta, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of the District Police Office, Ramechhap, who prevented any damage in Ramechhap during the protest on Bhadra 24, has been awarded the ‘Purna Shanti Puraskar’. The award was presented to DSP Bhatta by Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal at a special function organized at the Police Headquarters, Naxal, on Friday to mark the 70th anniversary of the Nepal Police. Bhatta, who was born in Dhading, had joined the police service as an Assistant Inspector (ASI) in 2055 BS.
He was promoted to the rank of Inspector in 2067 BS through open competition and has also worked in the Police Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB).
Bhatta played a key role in identifying the accused involved in the murder of Supreme Court Judge Rana Bahadur Bam to arresting the notorious poacher Rajkumar Praja from Malaysia on charges of killing a rare one-horned rhinoceros. He also played an active role in uncovering the Chiru smuggling case worth billions of rupees.
Bhatta, who had a 'dream of becoming a teacher' before choosing military service, has been working in the police service since the conflict period and has held the position of chief in various area police offices. He has previously received awards such as the Birendra Aishwarya Seva Medal, the Foreign Service Medal, and the United Nations (UN) Peace Mission Medal. Bhatta is a police officer who has served in conflict-affected countries twice in the United Nations Peace Mission. Having completed his master's degree in two subjects, he is currently studying law. Bhatta is known as an exemplary officer within the organization for his responsibility, discipline, and service spirit.
On the occasion of the day, Home Minister Aryal presented the 'Lifetime Achievement Award' to retired Deputy Inspector General of Police Krishna Bahadur Rana, the 'Motilal Best Investigator Award' to Deputy Superintendent of Police Dharmaraj Bhandari of the Central Investigation Bureau of the Nepal Police Headquarters, and the 'Yogendra Memorial Adventure Award' to Police Inspector Durga Rai of the Nepal Police Independent Police Station, Dillibazaar.
