DSP Bhandari receives Motilal Best Researcher Award

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Dharmaraj Bhandari of the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of the Nepal Police Headquarters has been awarded this year's 'Motilal Best Investigator Award'. The award was presented to Bhandari by Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal at a special function organized at the Nepal Police Headquarters, Naxal, on the occasion of the 70th Police Day on Friday.

Born in Pyuthan, Bhandari started his service as a police inspector in 2062 BS. He served in Surkhet, Dang, Bara, Rupandehi, Kapilvastu, Salyan, Sunsari and Kathmandu and was promoted to Deputy Superintendent in 2074 BS.

He has been continuously active in criminal investigations. Bhandari has played a role in sensitive investigations including the 60 kg gold smuggling case, the fake Bhutanese refugee case, the controversial religious leader Ram Bahadur Bamjan alias Ramlal Bamjan case, and the Bansbari land case. He has experience in investigating crimes related to murders in various districts, from the murder of Kapan businessman Niru Pandey Acharya. His team recently investigated the Karnali Development Bank scam. Bhandari, who holds a master's degree in English literature, currently lives in Butwal. He is the only son of the family. Earlier, Bhandari has received 31 medals and commendations, including the 'Purna Shanti Puraskar'. He also has experience of deployment in a United Nations peacekeeping mission. 

Bhandari, who has been working in the CIB for two years, is described by his colleagues as a disciplined, studious and analytically skilled investigative officer.

On the occasion of the day, Home Minister Aryal presented the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ to retired Deputy Inspector General of Police Krishna Bahadur Rana,    ‘Purna Shanti Puraskar’ to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Bhola Kumar Bhatta of District Police Office Ramechhap, and the ‘Yogendra Smriti Adityanath Puraskar’ to Police Inspector Durga Rai of Nepal Police Anasar Gulma Dillibazaar.
