He did not say anything about when and on what date the regular general convention will be held.
Nepali Congress Acting President Purna Bahadur Khadka has expressed the view that the party should hold a regular general convention instead of a special general convention.
Presiding over the meeting of the Central Working Committee that began at the Congress Central Office, Sanepa, Khadka said that preparations for a regular general convention will be made to unite the party. However, he did not say anything about when and on what date. A petition signed by about 54 percent of the general convention delegates was registered at the party central office on Wednesday, saying that a special general convention should be called if a regular general convention is not held within Mangsir. After Khadka, General Secretary Gagan Thapa expressed his opinion in the meeting. Thapa has expressed his opinion in favor of a regular general convention within Mangsir. Although all parties have the same opinion on holding a regular general convention, there are two different opinions in the Congress on the question of when to hold it.
A group including Congress General Secretaries Gagan Thapa and Bishwaprakash Sharma has emphasized that a regular general convention should be held within Mangsir. Thapa has taken the stance that the general convention should be held without extending the term of the central working committee as its term ends in the last week of Mangsir, while establishment leaders are suggesting that it would be appropriate to hold the general convention around the upcoming Baisakh, citing the election announcement and preparations on Falgun 21.
