This year's Nobel Peace Prize has been awarded to Venezuelan politician Maria Corina Machado.

The committee that awarded the Nobel Prize said about Machado, 'Even when the darkness is spreading, she has not let the light of democracy go out.' The committee noted that Machado, who emerged as the leader of democratic forces in Venezuela, presented an example of Latin America's most extraordinary civic courage. 

The prestigious 2025 Nobel Peace Prize was announced at 9:00 am at the Norwegian Nobel Institute in Oslo, the capital of Norway.

A total of 338 names were registered for the award this year, including 244 individuals and 94 organizations.
