On Friday morning, the road was blocked again, so the possibility of opening has been canceled for the time being.
Mechi highway blocked due to landslide will not be opened immediately. Pawan Bhattarai, Head of Road Division, Ilam informed that there is difficulty in restoring this road due to the continuous flow of water from the ground in the Rajduwali landslide area.
The road division worked till 11 o'clock on Thursday night and tried to bring the road into operation in 3 sections. Although the work was carried forward with the goal of operating the traffic, the possibility of opening the road again on Friday morning was blocked for the time being.
'We are currently preparing a temporary road over the landslide, on the bottom of which a lot of water is constantly flowing,' he said, 'as the subsidence seems to continue for a few more days, efforts are being made to keep the road running again with stones, wheels and rakhi.'
Bhattarai said that the main focus of the road division is to operate small vehicles as well as large supply vehicles in Ilam headquarters.
The road division also informed that it will take time to completely open the road that was blocked in places due to landslides and floods after the heavy rains on October 17 and 18. This road has been blocked since October 18.
