Nepali Congress leaders have requested President Ramchandra Paudel to convene an all-party meeting to create an atmosphere for the latest political developments and the upcoming elections.

Congress Vice President Purna Bahadur Khadka, General Minister Gagan Thapa and Bishwa Prakash Sharma and Central Member Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, who reached Sheetal Niwas on Monday, met the President and said that all-party discussions are necessary to create a smooth political environment for the elections.

The Congress leaders requested the President to take the initiative to reach an agreement between the parties through an all-party meeting saying that the current political situation is not conducive for elections.

In response, President Paudel mentioned that as the executive head, it is the prime minister's responsibility to call the all-party meeting, and he drew the attention of Prime Minister Sushila Karki to this matter.

Since then, Prime Minister Karki has said that she will not call the all-party meeting but has instructed the Election Commission to discuss with all political parties.

In the discussion held at the Prime Minister's office on Tuesday, a minister informed that Prime Minister Karki asked the Election Commission to hold necessary discussions with old, new and other stakeholders.
