Hundreds of citizens have been stranded on roads, highways and airports in many parts of the country due to incessant rains and resulting floods, landslides and disasters.

In such a situation, the National Federation of Nepal Transport Professionals has requested all members of transport professionals, operators, employees and laborers from all over the country to be active in relief and rescue.

Federation President Vijay Bahadur Swaran has requested to make arrangements to transport disaster-stricken and helpless citizens to their destination for free or at minimum fare. Mentioning that special attention should be paid to the safety, assistance and easy movement of passengers, he has requested all transport operators to cooperate and coordinate with each other in rescue and relief.

Meanwhile, the General Secretary of the Federation, Deknath Gautam, has also appealed to all associations, committees, companies and officials, employees and workers in the transport sector across the country to provide all possible assistance to passengers and victims stranded due to rain.

He said that since October 17, 2078, roads have been blocked and service facilities have been disrupted due to continuous rains and every transport organization and committee should emphasize on humanitarian assistance. According to the federation, this campaign will provide relief to the common people in times of crisis and will present an example of social responsibility of the transport sector.

Tasi Lakpa Sherpa, director of 'Fottin Peaks Outdoor' located in Thamel and mountaineer Tasi Lakpa Sherpa, has extended his hand for relief assistance when there has been a huge loss of life in many places due to continuous rains, floods and landslides across the country.

Sherpa has announced that he is fully prepared to provide more than 250 camping tents and other essential materials for immediate relief in the current difficult times.

He has announced to provide relief materials worth 100,000 US dollars (Rs 13.5 million) free of charge to help the disaster-affected citizens.

'If anyone needs immediate help, please contact me or my office staff,' Sherpa said, 'Let us all get through this difficult time together and support each other.'

He has asked all the citizens across the country to stay safe and spread the spirit of support to each other. 'This is the time of unity, we will all raise Nepal again,' he said.
