International flight operations at Tribhuvan International Airport are gradually returning to normal as the planes diverted to India and Bangladesh due to bad weather have started returning. The airport office said that the flight operations of the airport, which were blocked since Friday afternoon due to continuous rain and low visibility, gradually resumed after 8 pm.

According to the terminal office at the airport, the Air Arabia flight, diverted to Varanasi in the afternoon, managed to land in Kathmandu for the first time around 8:45 pm.

Meanwhile, the China Eastern Airlines flight from Kunming, which was diverted to Dhaka due to bad weather, is scheduled to arrive in Kathmandu at 4:20 pm tomorrow, the airport said. Also, two Qatar Airways planes — one from Delhi and the other from Kolkata — will also arrive in Kathmandu by night.

Due to bad weather, Air India and IndiGo have canceled their Delhi and Mumbai flights and the aircraft has stopped in India. It is said that these flights will be operated only on Sundays.

Similarly, India was diverted after a Thai Air Asia plane failed to land. The airport said that the plane returned to Bangkok as the weather did not improve.

Widebody aircraft of Nepal Airlines Corporation has also canceled the Kathmandu flight and stopped at New Delhi due to crew duty time exceeding 10 hours. According to the corporation, hotel accommodation has been arranged for the passengers of those flights.

With the improvement in the weather, the Nepal Airlines Corporation has prepared to operate regular flights to Bangalore (India) at night. According to the airport officials, the visibility which was limited to around 2,000 meters in the morning improved to 3,000 meters by evening, facilitating flight operations.
