District Administration Office Kathmandu has requested to avoid the possible rain and disaster that may arise from it.

The administration has issued an urgent notification regarding caution, from October 17 (today) to the 20th, unless it is absolutely necessary to travel as long as possible, people going outside and entering Kathmandu should not travel at night.

'According to the weather forecast and information sent by the Department of Water and Meteorology, there will be heavy rain till the 20th and there is a possibility of catastrophic events such as floods, landslides and erosion in the risky places, so stay alert and take precautions', said the release.

The Department of Water and Meteorology has predicted heavy rain from today to the 20th. Especially in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini regions, chances of moderate to heavy rain have been seen.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority held a virtual meeting with top officials and major district officials across the country on Thursday for pre-disaster preparations. Addressing it, Home Minister Omprakash Aryalal has instructed to complete all necessary preparations keeping in mind the possible danger. He instructed the authorities to be active in disaster management and relief and rescue operations to take necessary precautions to prevent human casualties.  In the

meeting, the Nepali Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police have been instructed to prepare for the necessary response. The official of the Nepalese army informed the meeting that 6 helicopters of the army have been kept ready for relief and rescue operations.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority has also requested not to travel in five provinces for four days except in urgent cases.

Shanti Mahat, spokesperson of the authority, informed that they requested not to travel until Monday the 20th unless it is very urgent.
