Nepal Bar Association, the umbrella organization of legal practitioners, has expressed serious objection to the statement of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

In a statement issued by the General Secretary of the Bar, Kedar Koirala, it is said that an inquiry commission has been formed to investigate the material and human damage caused during the protests and demonstrations by the Gen-G generation on August 23 and 24, and the statement issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs that regular legal action will not be taken forward until the report of the commission is received is said to encourage impunity.

"Bar has drawn serious attention to the statement issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on October 9," the statement said, "The statement of the Ministry shows a clear indication of seriously weakening the criminal justice system, encouraging impunity and further condoning violence."

During the Gen-G generation demonstration, the bar claims that the notification from the home administration to stop the investigation that should be carried out by the body planned by the interest group is contrary to the provisions of the Criminal Code, 2074 and the Civil Criminal Procedure Code, 2074. The

bar has strongly requested the ministry to correct the erroneous decision and take immediate steps to prevent impunity.

"In order to guarantee the rule of law and to protect the life and property of citizens, we also alert all relevant agencies to immediately bring legal action against anyone involved in illegal activities," said the statement of the bar.
