A courtesy meeting was held between the Minister of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Physical Infrastructure and Transport and Urban Development Kulman Ghising and the Ambassador of Japan to Nepal Maeda Toru.

Ambassador Toru congratulated Minister Ghisingh on behalf of Japan and expressed his wishes for a successful tenure in the meeting at the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport at Singha Darbar. In the meeting with the Ambassador of Japan, who has been an important and reliable development partner for the economic and social development of Nepal for a long time, the bilateral grants, loans, multilateral and technical assistance that Japan has been providing to Nepal, and the implementation status of the currently running projects were discussed.

Additional assistance needed for the Nagadhunga tunnel under construction with the help of Japan, BP highway reconstruction, additional assistance needed for the 140 MW Tanahun hydropower project, improvement of Koteshwar Chowk, progress of the project for improvement of electricity transmission and distribution system were discussed.

Mentioning the important contribution of Japan's aid in Nepal's development priority areas, Minister Ghising requested to provide assistance in possible areas such as the strategically important 670 MW Dudhkoshi, 1200 MW Budhigandaki reservoir project, preparation of infrastructure projects, preparation of integrated master plan for 100-year urban management of Kathmandu Valley. In the

meeting, Ambassador Toru mentioned that Japan is ready to provide assistance to large projects of strategic importance in Nepal.
