Millennium Challenge Account Nepal Development Committee (MCA-Nepal) has signed a contract for the construction of 117 km section of electricity transmission line to be built under the electricity transmission project of MCC Nepal Compact.
Along with this agreement, the entire agreement regarding the construction of 315 km electricity transmission line to be constructed under MCC Nepal Compact has been completed. MCA claims that this is important in terms of compact implementation. It is said that the Ashish-Bozler joint venture will build a 117 km transmission line from Lapsiphedi substation under construction in Kathmandu district through Ratmate substation under construction in Nuwakot district to New Hetauda substation under construction in Makwanpur district.
The contract awarded by MCA-Nepal through the international competitive procurement process is worth about 766.50 million US dollars. Under this agreement, the design, installation, testing and operation of the said 400 kV transmission line will be done.
Mr. Khadga Bahadur Bista, Executive Director of MCA-Nepal and Mr. Nirman Gowli, representative of Ashish-Bozler Joint Venture, signed the agreement in the presence of officials of MCC and MCA-Nepal during a ceremony on Friday. Addressing the
signing ceremony, MCC Resident National Director Diane L. Francisco said, 'The signing of this agreement represents significant progress in the implementation of the Nepal Compact. This achievement is the result of the successful construction of this important transmission line and the deep commitment and perseverance of MCA-Nepal for the future development and prosperity of the Nepalese people.
MCA-Nepal Executive Director Bishta said, 'By signing this agreement with Ashish-Bozler Joint Venture today, MCA-Nepal has achieved an important achievement in terms of implementing the MCC Nepal Compact. Under the power transmission project, the completion of the contract for the construction of all sections of the power transmission line is an important achievement.'
MCA-Nepal has already signed an agreement for the construction of 198 km electricity transmission line from the Ratmate substation under construction in Nuwakot district to the new Damauli substation under construction in Tanahun district, from the said substation to the new Butwal substation under construction in Nawalparasi (Bardghat Susta West) district and from there to the Nepal-India border. Apart from this, the agreement regarding construction of Ratmate Substation, New Damauli Substation and New Butwal Substation has also been done.
