While the number of people going home to celebrate Dasain is increasing, the journey is becoming difficult as the rain has damaged the roads in places. The Nagadhunga-Narayangadh road, where a large number of passengers leave Kathmandu valley, is blocked by a landslide. Passengers are stranded. There is a problem in the neighborhood when it rains in the Narayangadh-Butwal section under the east-west highway where traffic is high.

Near Jawangkhola, Dhading, on the Nagadhunga-Muglin road, traffic was blocked after a dry landslide occurred at 11 o'clock on Monday night. After 16 hours after the landslide was removed, two-way traffic was opened on Tuesday afternoon, and another landslide occurred on Wednesday night. A landslide has also occurred in Ghoptevir of this section.

Under the Muglin-Narayangadh road, traffic has also been stopped at Tuinkhola in Chitwan due to a landslide. About 45 hours after the landslide occurred in Tuinkhola last Friday, a one-way operation was carried out on Sunday. On Monday, vehicles were moving in both directions in that area, but on Tuesday afternoon, the traffic was stopped due to another landslide.

Before the landslide of Tuinkhola could not be removed, there was a problem due to a landslide in Jawangkhola towards Dhading. Now there is a problem on both sides," said Kedar Prasad Nepal, the head of the Nagadhunga-Muglin Road Plan West Section. Passengers have been stranded at various places in Dhading and Chitwan since Tuesday due to landslides blocking the road. According to the road department, the process of removing landslides is continuing.

District Administration Office Chitwan has asked vehicles to use alternative routes. The road department has also proposed Naabise-Hetounda on Tribhuvan Rajpath, Satdobato (Lalitpur)-Bhairav Mandir-Bagua-Lendanda-Hetounda on Kanti highway, Gaindakot-Palpa Rampur-Bhimad (Tanahun) on Kaligand corridor, Firkekhola-Dhadingbesi-Salyantar, Arughat-Ambukhareni, It has requested to use the Pokhara-Butwal road. According to Shubraj Neupane, head of the Federal Road Supervision and Monitoring Office, the geographical structure is very complex and difficult in the section from Muglin to Narayangadh.

'One of the reasons for the increasing problem of landslides in the Narayangadh-Muglin road section is the impact of the 2072 earthquake, another reason is the auxiliary roads that are randomly dug to connect settlements above the main road,' he says, 'The example of two passenger buses traveling in Simaltal on this road section last year is enough to understand the damage caused by such dug roads.'

He informed that he is focusing on doing. "We will start studying the cause of the problem as soon as the road is properly operated in a two-way manner," he said. "There is not much problem in this section, machines and technical manpower have been deployed in areas prone to landslides," he said, "now two-way traffic is running." More than 15,000 vehicles pass through this road every day.

There is also a demand to run passenger vehicles on Dasain through Nagadhunga-Sisnekhola tunnel. But the road department said that the decision will be taken only after discussing with the consultant and the construction company. According to Jha, the spokesperson of the road department, the Kodari section of the Araniko highway has been operational since Monday afternoon. Jha says there is no problem there now. The road section was blocked since July 17.

With the opening of the road, goods for Dasain have started coming in from Tatopani crossing. Narayanadatta Bhandari, Head of Road Division Office, Dolakha, said that the road is used for transporting large and long containers. "The road has been opened, containers with goods from China have started crossing," he said. Even though the road is currently being drained, there is still a risk of landslides during heavy rains. The project office has said that there is no major problem in the Narayangadh-Butwal road section where the passengers were suffering after the

and especially during the festival. In this section, there is a problem of vehicle skidding and stalling when it rains. Vijay Jaisi, director general of road department, said that machines and technical manpower have been deployed to solve such problems immediately.

BP has no problem on the highway either. Last year, the floods that occurred in October caused a problem for the commuters traveling through the BP highway when 12 km of the road was washed away. During Dasain, around 10,000 vehicles pass through the BP highway every day.

Saroj Sitaula, senior vice president of the National Federation of Nepal Transport Professionals, said that there is a problem in getting passengers to their destination on time due to the roads. "The vehicles are not able to come or go, the vehicles carrying passengers are not able to cross Muglin, they are stopped in the middle due to the landslide," he said. "The biggest problem now is due to the Tuinkhola landslide," he said.
