Rajesh Kumar Aryal, a blind teacher from Salyan, has announced an ambitious plan to climb the world's highest peak, Mount Everest.
He informed about his campaign with the main slogan 'Sustainable Tourism, Peace, Prosperity and Environment: Climbing Mount Everest by the Blind in 2026'.
Targeting the upcoming spring climbing season, he has prepared to climb the Lobuche mountain in the Khumbu region for practice. The climb above 6,000 meters will take place in November. This climb will be managed by Father and Son Tech and Expeditions and with them Experienced climber Purnakumar (PK) as Sherpa and two assistant guides will remain .
Aryal, a permanent resident of Tulsipur sub-metropolis-4 in Dang, is currently working as a permanent teacher in Salyan. As a child, he experienced extraordinary struggles. He lost his mother when he was one and a half years old and had to grow up in someone else's house when his father disappeared. His life became more difficult when he lost both his eyes at the age of 11. But a meeting with his blind friend Ram Bahadur Khadka gave him a new direction for life. After being accepted as an adopted son, he continued his basic education in Dang, higher education in Pokhara, and continued from graduation to postgraduate studies. Currently, he is teaching primary level children in Salyan.
Aryal has said that he wants to send a message about global climate change by climbing Mount Everest. "For the first time in Nepal, I am going to climb with the aim of giving a message from a blind person," he said. He estimated the cost of climbing Everest would be around Rs 1 crore. Also, he says, the expedition will be challenging as the time required for a blind climber is more than that of a normal climber.
Aryal is the wife of Kalpana Bohora and the parent of two daughters. His struggle, strong will and belief in his dreams have become a source of inspiration for the entire youth generation.
