The road has been blocked by a landslide at the place where the mountain was cut to make a wide bridge. The landslide in Tuin Khola in Ichchakamana rural municipality-5 near Muglin on the Narayangadh-Muglin road was not cleared on Friday evening and the road was not opened for the whole day after a huge landslide started on Saturday morning.

Even till Saturday evening, the repair work has been stopped due to the fact that the landslide removal work has not been completed. Bharatpur's Divisional Road Office has informed that they will start removing landslides again from Sunday morning. Since the mountains were cut to make a wide bridge over the Tuin River, landslides have been causing suffering in this way every rainy season since four years.

'This time the landslide has started falling since May . It has rained since August 26. Will there be a landslide? From January until Friday evening, landslides of the Tuin River repeatedly blocked the road for 48 hours  It has happened," said Arjun Ghimire, engineer of Bharatpur's divisional road office. The landslide covered 160 meters of the road from Friday evening to Saturday morning. Almost half of the mountain fell on the road.

Two and a half kilometers from Muglin is the Tuin river bridge towards Narayangadh. There was a delay in building the shop because the hard rock fell on the part of the bridge towards Muglin and the hill could not be cut easily. The mouth of the same bridge towards Narayangadh has caused a landslide due to weak rocks. Engineer Krishna Acharya, Information Officer of the Divisional Road Office, said that two years ago in June, the road was blocked for 24 hours due to a landslide at the same place.

It was planned to do rock netting this year to prevent landslides that started after cutting the mountain for the bridge . But the work did not start due to rain. Engineer Arjun Ghimire said that there is a plan to do rocket netting at a length of 160 meters and a height of 70 meters at an estimated cost of eight million rupees. The place where the mountain is cut is blocked by a strong metal mesh to prevent the stones from falling. This is called rock netting.

As it was not possible to do rocket netting before the rain, the division road office closed the road and removed the small and big stones that were likely to get stuck on June 12. Engineer Krishna Acharya, information officer of the road office, said that stones up to 16 meters high were thrown at that time. But on Saturday morning, with a heavy landslide, stones fell continuously from 70 meters above .

'Because of the rain that has been falling for a week, a big landslide happened today. While it wasn't raining today. The part that was wet after raining for weeks suddenly fell today', Engineer Arjun Ghimire said.

Narayangadh Muglin road was started 10 years ago to make it a wide two-lane road conforming to Asian standards . During the expansion, the hill was cut in places to widen the road . Because of this, the problem of landslides started . Landslides from the mountains that were cut during the road expansion are now much less . But when the mountain was cut again to make the wide bridge according to the road, a landslide occurred there too. In Chaitra of the year 2076, the bridge was started to be built in 15 places including the Tuin River. The vehicle has started running from Tuin Khola bridge since November last year.

'The part of the mountain cut for the bridge is about a hundred meters . Now there is a landslide at 160 meters and it is causing pain. A landslide occurred even in the 60 meters of the mountain,' said Engineer Ghimire.

Narayangadh Muglin Road is the main road connecting the capital Kathma and the tourist town of Pokhara with the East West Highway . More than 10,000 vehicles, including small and large vehicles and cargo trucks, pass through this road every day. In the last decade, landslides have caused pain and suffering for days on this road, which is called the lifeline of the capital Kathmandu.

Passengers' confusion on the road, CD distributed lunch

A passenger bus No. 8 B 5704 coming from Dadeldhura to Kathmandu is in the middle of the landslide. Which arrived there around 6:30 pm on Friday. As soon as it came, the landslide blocked the road.

'Saturday the road is not open . What time is open tomorrow Sunday?' Vasanthi Mahata who was in the bus was asking her husband Krishna Mahata who was with her. Krishna was also najwaf . He had no idea whether tomorrow would be open or not. It was confirmed that the road would not open on Saturday. Vasanthi's heart was breaking.

Krishna, who was working in a government job in Kathmandu, went home in a hurry. On Thursday 2nd August, he boarded a bus from Dadeldhura to go to Kathmandu with his wife. The bus came down at five o'clock on Friday morning. Then the bus got into a long jam due to the landslide blocking the road . It was five o'clock in the evening when he came to Narayangadh. When it was time to cut Muglin, a landslide fell about two and a half kilometers and got into a jam again.

'We were shocked by jamai jam . Jammed in such an uncontorted place . Can't find a place to eat lunch or buy water. Today at noon, we went a little further and brought noodles and water and ate, Krishna said. After the landslides, vehicles have been stopped in places since last Friday evening. Police inspector Gayatri Raj Sharma, who is the head of Chitwan district traffic office, said that from Kurintar, Muglin, Narayangadh to Lothar, about 11,500 vehicles were stuck on the road. That is why thousands of pilgrims like Krishna and Basanti are hungry and thirsty on the road.

Chitwan Chief District Officer Ganesh Aryal has distributed lunch to the travelers who are stuck in a difficult place outside the market. The lunch was distributed by a team consisting of Chief District Officer Aryal, Nepal Police, Army, Armed Police and District Heads of National Investigation.

Chandan Aggarwal, a businessman from Narayangarh, has helped with lunch. Chief District Officer Aryal said that lunch was distributed to 1500 to 2000 passengers.

Landslide clearing work has been stopped since seven o'clock on Saturday evening . Engineer Arjun Ghimire said that it is dangerous to work at night because stones are also falling along with the landslide. The rest of the work will begin at dawn on Sunday morning. He said that all the machine tools with the division road as well as the machine tools of Nagadhunga Malekhu Muglin road plan will also be used to clean the landslide.
