Minister Ghising called a meeting and prepared to form a task force to open the blocked main road

The government has started an initiative to open roads blocked due to landslides in different parts of the country. Physical Infrastructure and Transport Minister Kulman Ghising has called a meeting with the heads of relevant agencies after passengers were stranded on the main roads across the country, including Narayangarh-Muglin, which were blocked by landslides since Friday night.

In the meeting, it is said that the issue of traffic management and opening of blocked roads for Dasain and Tihar will be discussed and a working group will be formed for that purpose.

Yesterday evening from around 6:30 pm, the road was blocked overnight due to a continuous landslide near the Tuin Khola bridge on the Muglin-Narayangadh road section . About 70 meters  Stones are constantly falling from above and this morning  At 7:40 the road is blocked due to another big landslide.

Currently, three 'loaders' and one 'excavator' have been mobilized at that location to remove the landslide from both sides . If there are no further landslides, the road is likely to be operational after at least four hours.

As it is not possible to operate the traffic after the landslide, the vehicles have been requested to use an alternative route.  The Chief District Officer of Chitwan, Ganesh Aryal, has appealed to take an alternative route as the landslide is huge and it is not possible to remove it today.

In the morning, Tuinkhola was hit by a huge landslide and the road was completely closed. Chief District Officer Aryal says that the work could not be started due to continuous stones falling from above. Aryal said that even if the work starts, it may take almost 10 hours to clean the landslide completely.

Suffering in Daunne

Due to rain, it takes at least 7 hours for the vehicle to cross the road when the vehicle gets stuck in the Daunne section of the East-West Highway . Passengers traveling on the Butwal-Narayangadh road have been facing similar problems for the past three days. Since last Thursday, vehicles have been getting stuck near the Vishkarma temple in the southern section. Drivers and passengers are confused when landslides occur in places.

Although the train coming from Kawasoti-Narayangadh from Butwal is crossing for hours, the train going from Dumkibas to Bardghat-Butwal takes more than 7 hours to cross.

Out of the 14 km of Downne, about 7 km of one-way slope road has been constructed . Thousands of travelers who have gone home to celebrate the approaching Dasain are in trouble.

The Chinese company that took the contract for the construction of the highway did not demolish the road and did not build it. According to the data of the district traffic police, 18,000 vehicles pass daily on this road of Butwal-Narayangadh section.

These are the blocked highways

Seven different highways in the country have been blocked due to the floods and landslides that have come with the rains of the past few days. Nepal Police's Central Spokesperson and Deputy Inspector General of Police Vinod Ghimire said that the work of removing landslides in those areas is currently ongoing.

According to him, the road is completely blocked at Bhotkhola on the Koshi highway. The road is also blocked in Ekuwa of Makalu Rural Municipality of Koshi Highway. Similarly, the road is blocked due to a landslide in Katari Municipality-8 Sirise of Siddicharan Lokmarg.

Due to the flood, the road has also been blocked by the Miteri bridge that connects Rasuwa with China. Landslides in Kodari and Daklang of Sindhupalchok's Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality under the Araniko Highway have blocked both the places .

Ichchakamana rural municipality-5 of Chitwan has been blocked due to a landslide in Tuin river and Narayangadh Muglin road. The police said that the landslide started falling here from Friday evening and it is still falling this morning, so there is a problem to move it.

Kaligandaki Corridor Ratna Highway, East West Highway Galchi Trishuli Road etc. have been opened unilaterally .
