The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has temporarily stopped issuing visit visas to Nepalis from Monday.

The UAE has not issued a public notice on this. But the provider organizations that provide visa services have stopped accepting the given application. At the time of submitting the application, the UAE has started giving notices that it has temporarily stopped taking applications for Nepalis.

After the news that the government will investigate and take action against those who vandalized, arson and looted the demonstration on August 24 and escaped from prison, the UAE stopped accepting applications for visit visas. UAE is the country that takes the highest number of visit visas from Nepal.

Tej Bahadur Chhetri, the Nepalese ambassador to the UAE, said that the notification of visa closure could not be received formally. We have received information from the Nepalese that the visa has been closed. However, it has not officially arrived yet. We will inquire about it," he said.

In recent times, the number of Nepalis who go to find employment by taking a visit visa is very high. The UAE had put in its notice that the number of people not getting employment and overstaying on visit visas has started to increase. According to the Nepali Embassy, the number of Nepalis who have changed to employment visa through visit visa in UAE is three lakh. At present, 8 lakh Nepalis are working in UAE.
