MPs of the National Independent Party. Tosima Karki and Nisha Dangi have announced their resignations. Karki is an elected MP from Lalitpur while Dangi is a proportional MP.
The MPs have announced their resignations in protest against the repression of Genji protestors. Karki has officially submitted her resignation letter to the Speaker but has announced on social media that she will no longer hold the position of MP.
'I announce that I will withdraw from the responsibility of the Parliament, which has become a puppet of the insensitive government, and will not be an MP for the 2079 election,' Karki announced. She wrote that she was with the Zenji protesters.
Similarly, MP Nisha Dangi, who is also a RSVP whip, has also announced her resignation from the post. "You can't make a country by killing the youth of the country. When the youth of the country are lying on the streets, what is the parliament and the government for? I cannot sit in this position of MP,' Dangi declared, 'I cannot sit in this position even because I represent a genji. I want to go on the road with my generation.'
Earlier, RSVP MP Asim Shah had announced his resignation from the post. The MP should submit his resignation to the Speaker.
