According to the fund, the society which has been providing shelter to homeless people has been given an award for its significant contribution in the field of social services.
This year's 'Rambabu-Gyanu Social Service Award' has been given to Manav Kalyan Samaj (Seva Ghar). In a program organized by Rambabu-Gyanu Social Service Award Fund today, former Vice-Chancellor of Tribhuvan University Kedarbhakta Mathema presented the award to Sumitra Choulagai (Sumi Manav), the founder of the society.
The prize money is two lakhs. According to the fund, the award has been given to the society which has been providing shelter to homeless people in Changunarayan Municipality-2 Jhowkhel of Bhaktapur for making a significant contribution in the field of social services. In the
program, the Orphan Helpless Child Reform Society in Budhanilkanth Municipality-4 Dandagaon, the Devighat Senior Citizens Protection and Research Institute in Vidur Municipality-7 Devighat in Nuwakot, the Chepang Conservation Center in Gambaensi in Chitwan-11 in Ratnanagara in Mangalpur and the Tulsi Foundation (Tulsalaya Ashram) in Nakhkhu in Lalitpur Metropolitan Municipality-25 were given a prize of one lakh each.
On that occasion, 'Social Service Prachanmala-8' written by former Joint Secretary Gehnath Gautam, a researcher on the contribution of social organizations, was launched to provide opportunities for education and skill development. Chaulagai, a respected personality in the program, said that the society is active in making life easier for the poor citizens.
