Speaker Devraj Ghimire has said that since two-three years, Nepal has succeeded in earning significant foreign exchange in the export of information technology services including AI.

Today in Lalitpur by Digital Media Foundation  Speaking at the organized 'National Artificial Intelligence Conference', he said that this opportunity for Nepalese youth to find their market in the world while staying in Nepal is not only important in economic terms but also in social and political terms.

He said that AI will be useful because it will convert the expressions of members into 'speech-to-text' and quickly find and analyze the 'data' related to the bill, as well as activities in parliament and committees.

Speaker Ghimire also informed that necessary policy and legal arrangements are being prepared for the use and regulation of artificial intelligence in view of the challenges of misinformation, 'hacking' and data security. "The capacity of the parliament or the government alone is not enough to create laws on such technically and practically complex matters, it requires the initiative and active participation of subject experts and those concerned," he said. He said that the Parliament is studying the use of

AI as it will make it easier to work. Along with AI, there is a need for laws to adjust and regulate other technologies as well. The government has informed that it is preparing to bring the necessary bill to the parliament,' he said, 'I promise that the parliament will also give priority to the issues demanded by the time and that those laws will be citizen-friendly.'

Speaker Ghimire said that there are some serious disadvantages of AI and said that the problem of 'deepfake' technology that spreads misinformation and confusion, cyber fraud and theft of sensitive personal data is on the rise. 'Artificial intelligence also has the danger of displacing human labor, which can increase unemployment,' he said.
