The Ministry of Home Affairs has bid farewell to Inspector General of Police Deepak Thapa, who is about to retire. Thapa, who is going on compulsory retirement from August 19 (tomorrow Thursday), was bid farewell by officials including Home Minister Ramesh Akhtar and Home Secretary Gokarnamani Duwadi, Inspector General of Armed Police Raju Aryal, Chief Investigation Director Hutraj Thapa in a program organized at the Ministry of Home Affairs on Wednesday.

Inspector General of Police Thapa is about to retire due to 30 years of service. After Thapa retired, the cabinet meeting on 13th August appointed senior Additional Inspector General of Police (AIG) Chandra Kunwer Khapung as Inspector General. Thapa, who started his service as a police inspector on August 19, 2052, was promoted to Inspector General in March 2081. Thapa remained in police leadership for about 5 and a half months. 

At the farewell event, the Home Minister wrote good wishes for the rest of his life after retirement.

Home Secretary Gokarnamani Duwadi congratulated Thapa on successfully completing the important task of maintaining peace and order and wished him well in retirement. At that time, Inspector General of Police Deepak Thapa said that he performed his duties honestly, transparently and impartially. The Central Police Office Naxal has also organized a program for his farewell today.
