Inspector General of Police Thapa along with Additional Inspector General of Police Sudip Giri and Tek Bahadur Tamang were bid farewell by the newly appointed Inspector General of Police Chandra Kuber Khapung on Wednesday.
Inspector General of Police Deepak Thapa has been bid farewell by the Head Office of Nepal Police. The newly appointed Inspector General of Police Chandra Kuber Khapung bid farewell to Inspector General of Police Thapa along with Additional Inspector General of Police Sudip Giri and Tek Bahadur Tamang, who are going on mandatory retirement from 19 August (tomorrow Thursday) after completing 30 years of service.
After Thapa retired, the Cabinet meeting on 13 August appointed senior Additional Inspector General (AIG) Chandrakuber Khapung as Inspector General. Thapa remained in police leadership for about 5 and a half months.
Addressing the farewell ceremony, Thapa said that he has fulfilled the responsibilities provided by the constitution and existing laws with complete honesty, transparency and fairness. During the farewell ceremony, Thapa handed over the performance report to the newly appointed Inspector General of Police, Chandra Kuwer Khapung, which included the significant works carried out during his tenure and the important works currently being carried out in the police organization.
The retired IGP and others were escorted to their residence. Khapung will assume office on Thursday with the tailor's mark.
