The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) has banned two important members of the government-backed Nepal Olympic Committee ad hoc committee for two years.
OCA has taken action against Nepal Triathlon Association President Nilendra Raj Shrestha and Nepal Equestrian Association President Ravi Rajakarnikar.
Before that, the OCA had written a letter to the coordinator of the ad hoc committee, Dhruva Bahadur Pradhan, warning him not to use his logo and to take legal action if he is using it. According to the decision of OCA's meeting held on August 28, Shrestha and Rajkarnikar were banned from engaging in any activities related to OCA for the next two years.
OCA said that this decision was made based on the decision and recommendation of the Ethics Committee. This ban will be implemented immediately. Devendranath Sarangi, Chairman of the Ethics Committee, wrote a letter and informed about the ban. Earlier, both Shrestha and Rajkarnikar were banned for 90 days. Both of them are members of the ad hoc committee led by the principal.
President of triathlon Nilendraraj was the general secretary of the last working committee of Nepal Olympic Committee. He is also the head of the secretariat created by the ad hoc committee. Rajakarnikar is a personality who has previously worked in various positions in the Olympic Committee. The action against them will affect the international activities of triathlon especially in Nepal. Similarly, they may not continue as president of their association.
