Communications and Information Technology Minister Prithbisubba Gurung has said that there should be an agreement on postal services with all countries that have labor agreements.
Speaking at a program held in Kathmandu on Tuesday, Minister Gurung said that there is an inevitable need to have a postal agreement with the countries that have labor agreements to increase the trust and effectiveness of Nepal's post office. He said that postal services should be expanded even in countries where Nepali citizens live. According to him, trust and effectiveness of the institution will increase only if the postal service is expanded in all countries where there are Nepali citizens.
Minister Gurung said, 'postal arrangements should be mandatory in all countries that have labor agreements with Nepal. Wherever there is a Nepali diaspora, there must be a postal arrangement in those countries. Only if this can be done, this postal work will be done. Only if that can be done, the trust and effectiveness of the postal service will also increase. Another thing is that postal agreements should be made with all the countries where Nepalese citizens have settled. If this work can be done, we can develop the postal service as a good institution.'
He assured that necessary initiatives will be taken with the Ministry of Finance for the remaining arrears to be paid by the Postal Service Department.
