Nepal-India Cross Border Conclave was concluded in Birganj on Saturday by issuing a 16-point joint manifesto. In the manifesto, there are points to find common issues of both countries and make them public and take initiatives to address those issues by the government and related agencies on both sides, protect the media from the problem of misinformation and propaganda and be active for factual reporting.
In addition to trying to address the problems of the people of the world through professional journalism, it is mentioned in the manifesto that we should be aware of the use of alternative media, social media and AI.
Similarly, it is said in the manifesto that the real problems of the citizens of both countries will be exposed through field reporting, journalists from both countries in the border areas will try to protect the interests of the citizens of both countries through joint reporting as needed, and efforts will be made to strengthen the relationship between the two countries through the 'Media for Border Harmony Network'. It is mentioned in the manifesto that both countries will avoid reporting that may cause conflict or animosity in any society, visit each other's country from time to time to understand the historical and cultural activities of the country and play a role in promotion.
It is stated in the manifesto to establish a joint information center for journalists from both countries, as well as to have a common help line number for journalists from both countries, to make efforts to strengthen the community communication institute, to organize trainings, seminars and workshops from time to time to enhance the skills and competence of journalists working in the border areas of both countries.
