For the by-election of Rupandehi 3, Dr. It has announced that Lekhjung Thapa will be the official candidate. After various stages of the process, Dr. Thapa has been made a candidate for the by-elections to be held on 17th October. On Sunday, the party announced its official candidate from its central office in Vanasthali, Kathmandu.

Dr.  Thapa is a neurosurgeon. Dr. Thapa holds MD in Internal Medicine and DM in Neurology. He is also the head of the National Neuro Center at Maharajgunj. To become a

candidate  Shulabh Kharel, Parthivendra Upadhyay, Dr. Lekhjung Thapa, Gyanu Paudel, Jit Bahadur Gupta, Kusum Maharjan, Rachna Chhetri, Punamkumari Aggarwal and Madhu Prasad Aryal applied. After the process of various stages, by bringing many votes through the primary election, Dr. Thapa is selected for the candidate. 

Rupandehi-3 by-election: RSVP candidate Dr. Lekhjung Thapa Regional President Madhu Aryal is also involved in the teaching profession. He is the school director of Tilottama. He has a PhD in Autism from South Asian University . Gyanu Poudel is a cooperative activist. Central member Maharjan Ruppandehi is the leader of RSVP. She was on the party's proportional list in the 2079 general election. By withdrawing her name from the list, she has joined the race for candidacy.

Gupta was a RSVP state member and candidate for 2079. Chhetri is the district treasurer of the party. Kharel came from America for the election.  The leaders have said that they have taken Rupandehi-3 by-election as an opportunity to expand the organization and build public opinion again. 

In the general election of 2079, RSVP won the third position by getting 14 thousand votes proportionally in Rupandehi-3. On the direct side, RSVP candidate Jit Bahadur Gupta got 5 thousand 796 votes. About 90,000 votes were cast in this area with about 130,000 voters.
