Home Minister Ramesh Akhtar has instructed the concerned agencies to work in coordination to prevent illegal theft and export at the border crossings. Addressing the meeting of the Revenue Leakage Control Coordinating Committee held at District Administration Office Parsa on Sunday, the Home Minister gave this instruction.

He instructed local administration, customs office and all the concerned agencies including the three security mechanisms to coordinate and cooperate with each other to stop illegal smuggling and export.

He said that mutual coordination between all concerned agencies is indispensable for controlling revenue leakage and said that this work cannot be done only by blaming each other. The Home Minister also instructed subordinate officers to take initiatives to reduce illegal theft, smuggling and other criminal activities in the border area. In the

meeting, Chief Customs Administrator of Birganj Customs Office, Bishnu Prasad Gyawali, said that the office collected revenue enthusiastically in the last financial year compared to the previous financial year. He expects that the collection will be according to the target in the current year as well  He said that the cooperation and coordination of all related agencies is necessary as there is a need to control theft and smuggling for this.

Hari Prasad Sharma, head of the revenue investigation office at Pathalaiya, said that the security agencies should discourage the trend of transporting smuggled goods without a bill. He said, 'Indian citizens have a tendency to misuse the citizenship of low-income citizens of Nepal and register various firms and smuggle them through them, so it is necessary to be aware of this.'

Chief District Officer Toynarayan Subedi, who recently took over the responsibility of Parsa, expressed his commitment to move forward in coordination with the concerned agencies related to him for the peace and security of the district and control of revenue leakage. DIG Uma Prasad Chaturvedi, who participated in the

meeting, said that it is necessary to discourage the trend of opening warehouses around the customs checkpoint. He expressed the opinion that the trend of opening warehouses around the customs should be discouraged as the smuggling activities would be protected from such godowns.

Union government's Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ajay Kumar Chaurasia and Water Supply Minister Pradeep Yadav also participated in the meeting. The Home Minister, who arrived in Birgunj on Saturday night, will participate in various programs in Birgunj on Sunday.
