City chief Muslim died on the way while being taken to the hospital due to chest problems.
72-year-old Sajrudhin Muslim, head of Lumbini Cultural Municipality of Rupandehi, passed away on Saturday morning.
Tulsiram Lamichhane, a consultant in the municipality, informed that the Muslim died on Saturday morning due to a heart attack.
In the last election, he won as the city chief on behalf of the Nepali Congress. Muslims defeated CK Gupta of Janmat Party in that election.
According to Karan Pandey, a local youth, in the morning, after he had a problem in his chest, the family took him to the Bhairawa hospital with a doctor for treatment.
Now the body of Muslim is kept in the residence of Lumbini Cultural Municipality-3, Padaria. According to the family, the municipal team including the chief returned home only on Friday after completing a week-long visit to Singapore and Malaysia.
