The eighth central convention of the Center for Democratic Engineering Nepal (CEDEN), an organization of engineers close to the Nepali Congress, is being held on Saturday. Two groups are competing for the new leadership.

Party chairman Sher Bahadur Deuba, Prakashman Singh, NP Saud are closely contesting for the chairmanship of Ravi Bhushan Jha. Similarly, Dhanendra KC is contesting for the presidency with the support of the majority of leaders including Chief Minister Gagan Thapa, Bishwa Prakash Sharma, Pradeep Poudel, Congress leader Shekhar Koirala, Shashank Koirala. KC has also met Jitjung Basnet and Nainsingh Mahar, who are considered close to Deuba.

KC is considered a strong candidate as he has the support of most central leaders. Now Jha and KC, the competitors of the president, are busy asking for votes by forming a panel. From Jha's panel, Madan Puri is the vice president, Surdshan Sharma is the general secretary, Khagendra Awasthi is the deputy general secretary and Sujith Koirala is the treasurer.

KC Group has Sagar Shamsher Shahi as Vice President, Bhupendra Shrestha as General Secretary, Santosh Nepal as Deputy Secretary General and Rasmita Banjara as Treasurer. The Central Committee will have 18 members. Apart from the panel, Kulraj Khanal is competing for the post of general secretary.

Sanjay Adhikari, a member of the Election Central Working Committee, said that there were 37 nominations for 18 people in the Central Working Committee. 5 officers and 13 members will be elected from the election. So far, there have been 2 nominations for president, 3 for general secretary, 2/2 for vice president, treasurer and deputy general secretary. 26 people have nominated for 13 members .

There will be a committee of 15-15 people in each province. In which there will be 5 officers and 10 members. Officials said that all office bearers have been elected unopposed in Madhesh, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces. "In some other provinces, some positions are unopposed and some will hold elections," he said, "After the election is over, we will give everyone a certificate of election at once." Bagmati province has the highest number of 4 thousand 90 members . There are 6,547 members across the country. "Voting has been arranged from where the voters are," said the officer, "voting will be held at once everywhere, electronic voting has been arranged for the first time in Central, Gandaki, and Madhesh provinces."
