A case has been registered against four people for buying and selling the bones of dead bodies. A case has been registered against the four arrested people for religious crimes on Thursday.

The District Public Prosecutor's Office Kathmandu has registered a case against four people on the charge of buying and selling the bones of the dead bodies being burnt at Pashupati Aryaghat. A case has been registered against the four arrested people for religious crimes on Thursday.

Those who have been registered are 42-year-old Ramanandan Thakur of Sarlahi's Lalbandi Municipality-2, 61-year-old Ganesh Prasad of Kavre's Mandandeupur, Jeevnath Dhakal, 24-year-old Vinayak Mainali of Udaipur's Katari Municipality-8 and 41-year-old Misrilal Yadav of Saptari's Valanbihul Rural Municipality-6. 

Based on the investigation report done by the police circle Gaushala, the District Public Prosecutor's Office has filed a case against them in the Kathmandu District Court  . They were released on bail by the bench of Judge Ishwari Prasad Bhandari on Thursday. According to the district court, all of them were released after paying 10,000.    

After the death of Ram Shahi, he was taken to Pashupati to pray on 23rd July. Jivanath Dhakal and his assistant Vinayak Mainali were assigned to Sadgad from Aryaghat Seva Kendra. When half the body was burnt, the bones of the head were removed and sold.  

The case was prosecuted for religion-related offenses under the Civil Code.  A case has been registered against Ramanandan, Jeenath and Vinayak for violating Section 157 (1) of the Code. According to which, it is mentioned that one should not deliberately disturb the religious customs and conditions which have been followed since time immemorial. A person who commits such an act will be punished with imprisonment up to one year or a fine of up to 10,000 rupees or both.

Similarly, Misrilal has been presented as an example of this. According to which, it is mentioned that the punishment of the main offender will be half of the punishment.
