The tenure of Chandrakuber Khapung, who was appointed as the 32nd Inspector General of Nepal Police, is very short. Due to the length of service, it is not possible to formulate plans that will have a long-term impact during their tenure. In the 75-year history of the police, 32 people, including Khapung, get a chance to lead.

In 2007, with the end of the autocratic Jahanian Rana regime and the restoration of democracy, there is a history of the birth of Nepal Police. The Nepal Police Organization was established by mixing the team of "Liberation Sena" and government security personnel (Army) who fought for democracy. The then General Toran Shamsher Rana of Nepal Army was appointed as the first IGP of Nepal Police on 28th March 2007. He became IGP only 3 days till 30 Chait. Toran Shamsher was removed within 3 days and Narshamsher Rana was made IGP . After that, it seems that the IGPs till 2053 spent 2 years to 6 years as IGPs, and the IGPs with less than 1 year tenure are among those appointed after 2050 .

After Toran Shamsher Rana, Achyutakrishna Kharel became IGP for 36 days as the first tenure in February 2053. Kharel was removed from IGP and AIG Dhruva Bahadur Pradhan was brought to the leadership. Congress and UML played the game of removing and keeping the IGP to get people they like. After removing Kharel, Pradhan Dhruv Bahadur Pradhan was in the leadership for 8 months from March to November 2053. The RPP-UML government headed by Lokendra Bahadur Chand as Prime Minister and Bamdev Gautam as Home Minister made Pradhan the IGP and transferred Kharel to the head of the National Investigation Department. Kharel, who went to court against the government's decision after the

, was reinstated after the Chand government was removed and Surya Bahadur Thapa of RPP became the Prime Minister with the support of the Congress. IGP Pradhan was transferred to the Prime Minister's Security Adviser. After that, he resigned from the post of president and joined the politics of RPP .

as a short term  Hem Bahadur Gurung became IGP in October 2065. His duration was 5 months. He was in the leadership from 065 October to February. Another then IGP Thakur Gyawali also had only about 5 months of tenure . He retired after 30 years of service . He was in police leadership for 5 months from January 28 to June 23, 2076. Deepak Thapa is going to retire on the 18th of August as he held the post of IGP for the last time on March 5. His tenure was only 5 and a half months.

Khapung, who is going to take over the leadership after Thapa,

will also be only 2 months and 9 days . Out of the seven IGPs with a tenure of less than 1 year, Khapung is the third with the shortest tenure . With the short tenure of the IGP, there is a lack of time to set the plans and targets and carry them out.
