Congress MP Ishwaridevi Neupane, who was elected unopposed as the chairman of the state system and good governance committee under the House of Representatives, has taken oath. Speaker Devraj Ghimire took the oath of office and secrecy on Wednesday.
Speaker Ghimiresmaksh Neupane took the oath of office as the chairman of the committee in a program held at the Federal Parliament Secretariat in Singha Darbar. The swearing-in ceremony was attended by Home Minister Ramesh Akhtar, Defense Minister Manveer Rai, Law Minister Ajay Kumar Chaurasia, Youth and Sports Minister Tejulal Choudhary and chief whips, chief whips and MPs of the political parties represented in the parliament.
New Pane was the only candidate in the election for the post of Chairman of the State Administration Committee .
The previous chairman of the committee, Ramhari Khatiwada, resigned from the post on July 28 after getting involved in the controversy regarding the 'cooling off period' in the federal civil service bill.
Neupane, who was elected as the chairman, was a member of the Constituent Assembly for two terms in 2064 and 2070. Nyupane was previously the Chairman of the Joint Committee of the Federal Parliament Parliamentary Hearings Committee . After resigning as the Chairman of the Hearing Committee, she was elected as the Chairman of the State Order and Good Governance Committee.
