The meeting of the Education, Health and Information Technology Committee, which was held at Singhdarbar since this morning to pass the School Education Bill-2080, is still going on.

Chairman of the committee Ammar Bahadur Thapa said that preparations are being made to pass the bill from the committee and submit it to the House of Representatives. However, MPs say that they will leave the meeting and finalize the remaining issues of the bill today. "The meeting ends only after the committee passes the bill," said Chairman Thapa.

According to MPs, almost all the issues in the bill have been agreed upon. There are still some issues to be agreed on as to how the residential facilities will be under the full scholarship given by the private school. The parliamentarians are suggesting to improve the language and technical aspects of the finished issues.

Since then, expressing disagreement with some provisions of the school education bill, four organizations of private school operators have started a protest at Maitighar in Kathmandu. Private schools are gradually being made non-profit and the administrators have been protesting the provision of full scholarships to students. Pabson, National Pabson, Hisan and Apen issued a joint statement and started protesting on Thursday demanding the removal of these two provisions from the bill.
