CPN (Maoist Center) Member of Parliament Gyanu Basnet said that even though the country has moved to a federal democratic republic system, the situation of education is critical.

Speaking at the meeting of Education, Health and Information Technology Committee held at Singha Darbar on Thursday, she said that many problems still exist in the field of education. She mentioned that there is a need to make many reforms in the education sector and held the opinion that the Education Bill should play an important role in advancing education. She pointed out the need to strengthen the foundations of the education sector and move forward.

She said, 'Even in the federal democratic republic system, we could not make much progress in the field of education. Many problems in the field of education stood before us. Due to which the country could not move forward as it should today. We want the Education Bill to play an important role in advancing education. We are determined that a strong foundation should be laid in the education sector.

MP Basnet suggested that for the improvement of public schools, service facilities from the state and mandatory provision of enrolling the children of wage-earners in public schools should be included in the bill.
