The Department of Postal Services has published postage stamps bearing the image of Sardar Bhim Bahadur Pandey. Minister of Communication and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung stamped the first day cover of Sardar Bhim Bahadur Pandey's postal stamp organized by the Postal Service Department in Kathmandu today.
Minister Gurung emphasized that the department should search for patriots and national servants and embark on a campaign to bring life to postage stamps. He said, 'Postage stamps preserve history and help identify such national servants at the national and international level.'
Sardar Pandey is the sixth generation descendant of the patriot Kazi Kalu Pandey. Pandey was also the first Nepali from India to get a master's degree in commerce. Minister Gurung said that the postal stamp was published in honor of Pandey's contribution in social service including administration, diplomacy, and writing. He says that this will respect the elders and also inspire the younger generation. Recently, the
department along with patriots and politicians has started promoting the endangered Raithane crop, culture, tradition and people's life by publishing postage stamps. Relatives and children of Sardar Bhim Bahadur Pandey participated in the
program. In which his son Himalaya Pandey said that he felt that the entire family was honored by the nation by publishing postage stamps in the name of his father Bhim Bahadur Pandey.
Communication Secretary Radhika Aryal said that she is always inspired by the biography, struggle and contribution of Sardar Bhim Bahadur. Manmaya Pangeni Bhattarai, director general of the department, said that the publication of postal stamps in the name of national servants like Sardar Pandey is protecting the historical documents of the entire country.
