Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri has arrived in Kathmandu. At the invitation of Foreign Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai, Misri landed in Kathmandu at 9 am on Sunday for a two-day official visit.
Misri came to Nepal to discuss preparations for Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's proposed visit to India on August 31. The ministry has not given official information about the schedule of his visit. But according to sources, Mishri's stay has been done at Solti Hotel.
He will reach Solti Hotel directly from the airport. After that, there is a program to meet separately with President Ramchandra Paudel, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Nepali Congress Chairman Sher Bahadur Deuba, Opposition Leader Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Foreign Minister Arju Rana Deuba. In the
meeting, Misri will hand over a formal invitation to visit India to Prime Minister Oli on behalf of Indian Prime Minister Modi.
On this occasion, there will also be bilateral talks between Nepal and India at the secretary level. This evening Foreign Secretary Rai has also organized a dinner to welcome Mishri.
Oli 14 months after becoming the Prime Minister, Oli is about to visit India. According to a Foreign Ministry official, Misri's visit to Nepal will focus on preparing the basis and atmosphere for Prime Minister Oli's visit to India.
Foreign Secretary Misri's meeting in Kathmandu will determine which agenda will be introduced at the Prime Minister's level and prepare a draft of the issues that can be signed, said the official.
Modi and Oli are preparing for bilateral talks outside Delhi this time during their visit to India. According to sources in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, preparations are underway for a formal meeting between the two Prime Ministers in Bodh Gaya. The city of Bodhgaya in the state of Bihar is famous as a holy pilgrimage site for the followers of Buddhism. Bodhgaya is known as the place where Buddha attained enlightenment.
Misri will return to Delhi on Monday. He has come to Nepal for the second time. Last year, he came to Nepal for a two-day visit on July 27-28.
