Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri is coming to Kathmandu on Sunday for a two-day visit to Nepal. On the invitation of Foreign Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai, Misri is going to come for an official visit. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's planned visit to India on August 31 is about to be discussed in preparation for Egypt's visit to Nepal.

 

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement on Saturday saying that the two foreign secretaries will hold talks on various aspects of Nepal-India partnership, connectivity, development cooperation and other matters of mutual interest. It is said that Misri will also meet high-ranking people of Nepal. 

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of India has also informed about Egypt's visit to Nepal through a statement on Saturday. It is mentioned in the statement that India has given high priority to relations with Nepal, saying that there is a strong friendly relationship between India and Nepal.

"The visit of the Foreign Secretary will be an opportunity to continue the tradition of regular high-level exchanges between the two countries and to further advance the bilateral relations," said the statement released by the Ministry of External Affairs of India. Misri will land in Kathmandu on a special flight of the Indian Air Force at 9 am on Sunday. 

During his visit to Nepal, Misri is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with Foreign Secretary Rai and meet high-ranking political leaders including Prime Minister Oli, Foreign Minister Arju Rana Deuba. According to foreign sources, Misri will hand over a formal invitation to visit India on behalf of Indian Prime Minister Modi.

14 months after becoming the Prime Minister, Oli is about to visit India. According to a Foreign Ministry official, Misri's visit to Nepal will focus on preparing the basis and atmosphere for Prime Minister Oli's visit to India. According to the official, the foreign secretary Misri's meeting in Kathmandu will prepare which agenda will be introduced at the prime minister's level and draft the issues that can be signed. 

Modi and Oli are preparing for bilateral talks outside Delhi this time during their visit to India. According to sources in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, preparations are underway for a formal meeting between the two Prime Ministers in Bodh Gaya. The city of Bodhgaya in the state of Bihar is famous as a holy pilgrimage site for the followers of Buddhism. Bodhgaya is known as the place where Buddha attained enlightenment. 

Indian Foreign Secretary Misri will return to Delhi on Monday. Misri is going to visit Nepal for the second time. Last year, he came to Nepal for a two-day visit on July 27-28.
