India's Foreign Secretary Bikram Mishri, who is on a visit to Nepal, met with President Ramchandra Paudel at Rashtrapati Bhawan Sheetal Niwas.
On that occasion, President Paudel said that Nepal has benefited from the progress made by its close neighbor India and wants to benefit even more.
'As a rising international power, we are happy with the progress made by India in the socio-economic and technological fields, as a friend and close neighbor, Nepal has benefited from India's progress and wants to benefit even more,' said President Paudel's press advisor Kiran Pokharel.
Discussing the close social, cultural, religious, spiritual, economic and people-level relations between Nepal and India for centuries, he said that the relationship between the two countries is based on universal equality, friendly cooperation, mutual respect and trust.
'Nepal has always kept relations with India as a top priority, Nepal appreciates the 'neighborhood first policy' of the Indian government that gives special importance to relations with its neighbours,' said President Paudel.
Foreign Secretary Mishri said that according to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's policy of prioritizing relations with neighboring countries, Nepal is at the top of the priority list, according to Press Advisor Pokharel.
Foreign Secretary Mishri said on the occasion of his visit that he had the opportunity to discuss with the related officials about the expansion of 'connectivity' for the progress and development between the two countries in the modern era as well as mutual interests and concerns.
