For the first time in the Kathmandu valley, a rare bird in the world, Bronze Grassbird (Bristled Grassbird) has been recorded. This bird was seen on the bank of Manohara river near Bode in Bhaktapur from 28th to 31st.

This bird was seen by wildlife photographers Pratap Gurung, Deepak Budhathoki and Sanjay Tha Shrestha on the banks of the Manohara River and photographed. They found an adult female bird. 

This is a summer visitor bird. However, there are also a small number of raithane. This bird is recorded in the area of 250 meters high from Koshi Tappu in the east to Shuklaphanta Terai in the west. Hemsagar Baral said.

In Kathmandu, it was seen at a height of 1,250 meters. This bird comes to Nepal in the middle of March. By the middle of April, it starts making noise. After that, it looks for a mate for reproduction and sits on the otharo. Ornithologist Baral said that after rearing chicks, they go back to October.

It is very difficult to take a picture of this bird, which usually hides. However, it is easily seen when the special sound and the bush come out during breeding. This bird likes to live in grassy meadows and thickets.

Its numbers are rapidly decreasing as its habitat is being destroyed due to increasing human encroachment along with increasing urbanization.

'Initially another bird was spotted on 28th July,' said wildlife photographer Pratap Gurung, who took the picture, 'after two days of searching, researching and asking the experts, it was a rare bronze grasshopper.

It is recorded that this bird was first seen in Nepal in 1986 by Royal Fleming Jr. on the banks of the Rapti River in Chitwan.

Birds found in the Terai have been recorded in Kathmandu Valley, and the diversity and study of birds is becoming wider. Summer visitor This bird is estimated to be 1,600 to 3,200 in Nepal during summer. During the summer visitor bird count, 458 bronze grasshoppers were counted at Koshi Tappu in April 2012.
